It was a cool experience. I enjoy the creative process because it involves careful planning so it is very hard to mess up when you go for principal photography. Here's the project:
We first assigned the roles to everyone, and I tried to make sure everyone was satisfied with their role. Once my group got to storyboarding, we came up with a pretty good outline of how we wanted it to go. My role would be most compared to that of a cinematographer, I made sure that the storyboard was followed and framed most of the shots. The editing process was quite simple compared to previous projects that I make with the Adobe suite but nevertheless, I am proud of my work. The most important skill I learned from this project is the basics of the 6-shot system, it is very useful when coming up with shots to use in future projects. Also to enhance future projects, I will keep an image of each shot noted so I can easily verify that two shots can be put together because sometimes when you're shooting video you can forget about the editing process and not think about how the two shots can match up, an image to look back on will help that issue.
This project used skills required for future job performance such as technical skills, communication, leadership, collaboration, and project management. Technical skills required to use the equipment when filming and making your shots as well as editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. Communication was also big because we were working in groups, which means not by ourselves, so we had to communicate our ideas in order to collaborate effectively. Sometimes, even in a group, you might have to be the leader in order to get something done that others might not be so understanding of. It is a process of teaching and getting work done faster. Overall, project management requires us to balance work over the course of a week, because we only had class time together and I didn't bring the work home so we had to be efficient in how we managed the project and our time.
If I could go back and do one thing differently, I would reshoot the medium-close shot of the keyboard, mouse, and monitor because it was kind of long and had unnecessary button-clicking in it and fixing it would might the video a little smoother. One thing that I would do the same is keep the shots. I think the shots look pretty good together and flow well, so why change it?
